Mechanism

Tirzepatide is a dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist that enhances insulin secretion, suppresses glucagon, and delays gastric emptying.

Approved Indication

Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults as an adjunct to diet and exercise.
