Mechanism

Benzgalantamine is a pharmacologically inactive prodrug of galantamine that is metabolized into active galantamine, which competitively inhibits acetylcholinesterase and allosterically modulates nicotinic acetylcholine receptors.

Approved Indication

Treatment of mild to moderate dementia of the Alzheimer’s type in adults.
